PA Cyber Senior Commits to York College’s Cross Country Team

February 19, 2024

PA Cyber senior Roger Orlandini of Wilkes-Barre committed to participating in cross country at York College of Pennsylvania for the 2024-2025 school year. He will study environmental horticulture at the college, a program for which PA Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding praised its program structure, facilities, and faculty.

“Roger is a committed runner and athlete and someone who is striving to get better, which is what I am looking for from an athlete for the team,” said Stephen LoBianco, York College’s Head Cross County / Track & Field Coach.

Orlandini has participated in cross country and track since seventh grade at his district school. He competes on the district’s team while attending the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School (PA Cyber) as his primary school.

“I never thought I would go to a 4-year college,” said Orlandini. “To find a program that I am excited to go for and be able to run and participate in a sport I have loved for years is amazing!”

He enrolled at PA Cyber in the fall of 2021 for his sophomore year to avoid bullying at his old school. PA Cyber serves more than 11,000 students across Pennsylvania in kindergarten through 12th grade. After switching schools, Orlandini’s family found that staff honored his individualized education plan more effectively.
