PA Cyber student, violinist Sarah Blahovec will perform with local orchestra
GREENSBURG, Pa.— Violinist Sarah Blahovec, a junior at the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, will perform with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra as part of their annual Young People’s Concert. The theme of this years show is ‘Peter and the Wolf.’
“I’m already a substitute with the symphony,” said Blahovec, of Greensburg, Pa. “And because this is a Young People’s Concert, they thought it would be appropriate to have someone my age perform.”
This year's Young People's Concerts will be held on October 27 at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg. Based on the theme of Peter and the Wolf, the program includes works by Glinka, Prokofiev, Kreisler and Williams.
Blahovec will perform La Gitana by Fritz Kreisler. Afterwards, she will answer questions on stage about her music, including her practice schedule and various performances.
The Westmoreland Symphony has held Young People’s Concerts since 1977. The concerts are specifically designed to serve as a field trip for local schools. This year, the show will be attended by students and families of PA Cyber.
“I think its cool that I get to perform for kids from my school,” said Blahovec. “I’m excited to perform.”
