PA Cyber elects new board leadership
MIDLAND, Pa. – Dr. David Jaskiewicz of Wexford, Pa., is the new president of the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, succeeding Edward Elder of Aliquippa. Tom Dorsey of Philadelphia is the new vice president, succeeding Phil Tridico of Midland.
Dr. Jaskiewicz and Dorsey were elected at the board’s annual reorganization meeting June 30, 2009. Each has served two years on the board.
“This is the first time the offices of president and vice president have been held by parents of PA Cyber students. Four on our board now have family members in the school. This is an awesome moment and speaks to the growth of the school,” said Dr. Nick Trombetta, CEO.
Dr. David Jaskiewicz, an optometrist, is a resident of Wexford in the Pine-Richland School District. His daughter, now entering the eighth grade, has been a PA Cyber student since 2001.
Thomas Dorsey, a resident of the Philadelphia City School District, is retired from the Philadelphia City Police Department and its S.W.A.T. Division. He is father to a seventh grade PA Cyber student.
Elder and Tridico were elected board president and vice president, respectively, in 2007. Elder joined the board after retiring as superintendent of the Center Area School District. Elder and Tridico remain members of the PA Cyber board of directors. Dr. Trombetta extended thanks to them for their service to the school.
Other board members are Joe Rodella, president of RoData Inc. of Pittsburgh, Jayne Lingenfelder, a parent from Harrisburg, and Judy Garbinski, provost and vice president for learning and student success at Community College of Beaver County. Garbinski has served on the board since its inception in 2000.
