Feb. 10, 2009

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (PR Newswire) – Corporate CITA accreditation for the National Network of Digital Schools (NNDS) is seen as a timely recognition of organizational excellence as it expands efforts to market dynamic Lincoln Interactive curriculum to schools nationwide.

Western Pennsylvania-based NNDS announced today that the AdvancED Accreditation Commission www.advanc-ed.org has granted corporate accreditation through the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), a global, non-governmental, voluntary association of schools, learning centers and corporations in 100 countries.

The primary activity of NNDS is the design, development, and delivery of Lincoln Interactive www.lincolninteractive.com, a premium online curriculum with more than 250 online courses for grades 5-12. Highly innovative K-4 “Little Lincoln” courses featuring video podcasts and original animated characters currently are under development.

Expanded NNDS sales and marketing staffs are working to introduce Lincoln Interactive to schools nationwide who seek a quality online curriculum for their students, said Bryan Bown, NNDS Director of Educational Services.

Audited since 2005 by the Tri-State Area School Study Council of the University of Pittsburgh, Lincoln Interactive curriculum is utilized by traditional school districts, multi-district educational service centers, and private, charter, and virtual schools. They include the 8,000-student PA Cyber, largest cyber charter school in Pennsylvania.

Bown said CITA Corporate Accreditation “provides NNDS with a nationally recognized mark of quality for our organization. We are honored to receive it. This demonstrates our commitment to excellence, our openness to external review, and our desire to be the best we can be on behalf of the students and schools we serve.”

Dr. Mark Elgart, President and CEO of AdvancED, stated, “CITA Corporate Accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the corporation on the primary goal of creating lifelong learners. NNDS is to be commended for engaging in this process and demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.”

CITA Corporate Accreditation is for a five-year term with regular monitoring and reporting.

Founded in 2005 by Dr. Nick Trombetta, NNDS is a nonprofit foundation with an educational and philanthropic mission.

CITA is an accreditation division of AdvancED, parent organization for the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI).
