Police Honor Trombettas

Dr. Nick Trombetta and his sister, Elaine Trombetta Neil, have been honored by the Beaver Valley Chiefs of Police Association for organizing a concert which raised nearly $10,000 for police charities.

Trombetta and Neil were made honorary lifetime members of the association, the first time that honor has been conferred in its 47-year history, according to Lawrence “Rocky” Conti, president of the association and retired Monaca chief of police.

Dr. Trombetta and Neil were presented with engraved plaques and gold membership cards at the chiefs association’s annual dinner meeting on Nov. 7 at the Seven Oaks Country Club. The Lincoln Park Mancini All-Stars provided entertainment for the dinner.

Conti said area police officers were very appreciative of the funds raised by the Aug. 29 “Fallen But Not Forgotten” concert at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, and of the beautiful and moving ceremony honoring the sacrifice of police officers and their families. The band Johnny Angel and the Halos performed in concert following the ceremony.

Money raised by the event was divided between the chiefs association, two local Fraternal Order of Police Lodges, and the Fallen Heroes Fund, set up in the wake of last year’s slaying of three police officers in Pittsburgh. Conti said the association and FOP lodges will use their funds primarily for officer training.

Saying the concert was pulled together in six weeks’ time, Conti credited Neil with “taking the bull by the horns” to organize it. He had high praise also for the center’s staff. The chiefs association hopes to make the concert and ceremony an annual event.

Dr. Trombetta is founder and CEO of the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, and founder of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center and Charter School. The center donated the facility for the concert.

Neil has organized several recent events at Lincoln Park, including Italian, Irish and Slavic festivals, and the recent Divas Live concert to benefit the Women’s Center of Beaver County.
