PA Cyber schedules free student health screens
Oct 2, 2015
All PA Cyber regional offices will be offering free on-site student health screenings on specific dates during the months of October and November.
School nurse Dana Marquis and her staff will personally conduct the free screenings for height, weight, vision, hearing and scoliosis (curvature of the spine).
“The on-site screenings are a convenient way for our parents to meet this state-mandated requirement,” said Marquis.
Student health screenings are required annually for all students in kindergarten through grade 12, with scoliosis screenings beginning in grades 6 and 7.
Parents are asked to preregister with a preferred appointment time at their nearest PA Cyber office on the scheduled date by emailing Marquis at firstname.lastname@example.org. However, walk-ins will not be turned away, she said.
Parents may choose at their own expense to have a child’s doctor perform mandated screenings as part of the child’s regular program of health care. If they do so, they need to have the physician fill out a form to satisfy the state mandate that is kept on file with the school. Forms are available through the student Learning Management System or may be requested by emailing Marquis.
