Message from Dr. Trombetta
Dear Students and Parents,
This year marks an important milestone for PA Cyber: our 10th anniversary.
When we launched this school 10 years ago we never dreamed that it would grow to serve nearly 9,000 students from all corners of Pennsylvania. Looking back, we know now that families were ready for a new kind of school, one that uses the internet and computer technology to enable children to learn at their own pace in the safety of their own homes.
We knew we had to provide the best available curriculum and have it taught by highly qualified, Pennsylvania certified teachers. We knew we had to be responsive to the needs of our students and their families, to treat them like the valued customers they are. We knew we had to give each student personalized attention and break down barriers that keep them from learning, achieving, succeeding.
When we started PA Cyber, it was with the firm belief that every student could succeed in the right learning environment. Our flexible, personalized approach has delivered results. Our students are thriving.
Our 10th anniversary isn’t the only milestone PA Cyber reached this year.
In state PSSA math and reading tests administered in March 2009, our students met or surpassed every performance target. They hit 29 of 29 goals. That means our school has met the standards for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as defined by the federal government and as tested by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
I am so very proud of our students and staff for meeting every AYP performance target. It is a huge achievement!
We aren’t resting on our laurels. With every hurdle crossed, another lies ahead. With our 10th anniversary also comes a requirement that our school charter be renewed by the state for another five-year period. That’s our next hurdle, and we’re confident we’ll clear that one, too.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nick Trombetta
